LAM Design is owned and run by me, Lucy Moore. I have a passion for all things crafty. I love discovering new crafts and trying out new techniques.
I was born in the UK but raised in the West Indies and later Zambia before returning to the UK as a teenager. My love of crafts and sewing started at an early age as I turned the handle of my mother's Singer sewing machine making clothes that were hard to find overseas. My mother was able to turn just about any material into the finest of garments and taught me to appreciate all fabrics and gave me the initial skills to design and create wonderful clothes.
At five years of age I was taught to knit by my grandmother. At about seven years of age, I started designing and making clothes for my dolls. I then progressed onto designing and sewing clothes for myself and friends.
I had my first sewing commission at the age of 15 to make a blouse and dressing gown for a friend's mother.
I designed and made my own wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses back in 1989. In 1997, when my children started school, I decided to start a full-time sewing business which grew from humble beginnings focusing on waistcoats through to a focus on couture dress making of bridal, evening and day wear for women.
I moved away from dressmaking a few years ago and found an interest in patchwork and quilting. I decided I wanted to share my interest and help others find a new interest by offering a selection of patchwork kits.
